Tintinburgh | Baltics | Riga
I have friends from Lithuania and Estonia but I have never met anyone from Latvia so I did not have many expectations. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived, the city feels very different to Lithuanian cities and I immeditely loved the architecture - it has industrial and art noveu vibe.
One thing that I hated was the amount of people using escooters and cyclists on the side walk. I sometimes do that to - but slowly and only when there is no cycle path and the street is busy with cars. But here it made no sense - there were quite a few cyclepaths and the traffic was mostly ok.
Another thing that surprised me was that Riga has 15T trams in almost the same variant as in Prague.
Recommendations:
- Turgeņeva 17 - This is artsy place with robot sculptures and a cat that i took photo of. It has a cafe and seats so I would suggest this as a breakfast place before going to the Central Market.
- Central Market - I guess this is pretty basic place to recommend but oh well. I think its good choice for lunch / breakfast - one of the halls is for ready to eat food.
- TV tower, we hired a boat here to go around the island with the tower. It was a bit rough weather but overall I loved the trip.
